Natural Treatments Can Reduce Wrinkles

A natural, anti aging facial treatment for overall skin health can do your face a lot of good, help reduce wrinkles and make you feel better.  It doesn’t have to cost you the money you would pay if you went to an expensive spa either.

It helps to know your own skin. Are you prone to oiliness?  Are you dry in places? Is your skin sensitive? Do you have any skin problems like eczema or psoriasis? Knowing these things about your skin is important before you give yourself a facial treatment at home so you’ll choose the right remedies.

Many products that claim to be natural are not. Some products can actually make your skin even worse. It’s good to stay away from products that contain any of these ingredients- paraben, urea or propylene glycol because they’re harsh chemicals that will age you faster and harm your skin.

Wet Towel Treatment

Pamper your skin by wetting a soft towel with warm water and then cover your face with it for a couple of minutes. This helps open your pores and ready your skin for treatment.  It also helps detox your skin and allowing the dirt lodged in your pores to come out naturally. It is very soothing and relaxing and your skin will love it.

Cleanse Your Skin

Once you remove the towel from your face, cleanse with either gently with your fingertips or a washcloth using a cleanser that is suited to your skin type. If you have oily skin then choose a natural cleanser that contains tea tree oil and it will help dry excess oil. If you have normal to dry skin or combination skin (an oily T zone) then look for a cleanser that contains both orange and chamomile to help balance your skin. If your skin is sensitive look for a mild natural cleanser that contains geranium essential oil.

Exfoliate the Skin

After cleansing, it’s time to exfoliate.  Exfoliation gets rid of the dead top layer of skin in order for the healthy new skin to show itself. Choose a gentle exfoliator like fine baker’s sugar mixed with a little oil.  Don’t scrub, just massage a small amount gently in circular motions being careful to avoid the delicate eye area. Rinse the exfoliator off completely with lukewarm (not hot) water.

Toning

Tone your skin with a gentle toner.  If it burns, it’s too harsh.  Avoid toners that contain alcohol (propylene glycol is a very common ingredient of such) and preferably choose one that can be sprayed on your face as opposed to one that you apply with a cotton ball. Rose water, lavender water and lemon water are all good.

Moisturize Your Skin

Choose a natural moisturizer geared towards your skin type. Apply a small amount and stroke with an upward, sweeping motion to work it in.  Using an hydroxyl cream is good; so is a lotion containing MSM.  Or, for a more natural moisturizer, do what my mother used to do.  She’d cleanse her skin and then apply olive oil.  She’d then reapply another warm towel, encouraging the oil to soak in.

If you take good care of your skin by using natural products and give it facial treatments regularly, you’ll wrinkle less and retain a healthy glow.
